About

The O Gallery @ 44 Gaukel was created to provide public exhibition space for emerging and community artists in The Waterloo region. A joint project of ArtsBuild Ontario, the City of Kitchener and supported by co-tenant the Accelerator Centre, the O Gallery @ 44 Gaukel offers a flexible space open to most artistic media and artists of all ages and experience.

Facility Details

Building hours are 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. The building is not open to the public outside of these times, but can be used for private events and artist receptions.

Loading

The O Gallery has access to a freight elevator – please notify ArtsBuild Ontario staff if you will require the freight elevator ahead of load-in date. 

Environmental Controls

44 Gaukel is temperature-controlled by season. The O Gallery does not follow CCI guidelines for environmental controls. Artworks that may be affected by temperature or humidity are displayed at the artist’s own risk.  

Display Details

Hallway galleries – Drywall, painted white surface

Mounted Shelf units – 1.5″ white shelf unit, mounted at height of 48.5”

Floors – Linoleum tile

Lighting – Fluorescent

Access and Security

Gallery hours are 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Fridays. Artists may host an artist reception outside of regular building hours but must abide by all policies and procedures as they apply to the doors and security of 44 Gaukel.

The entrance to 44 Gaukel is monitored by a security system, however 44 Gaukel, ArtsBuild Ontario, and the Accelerator Centre are not responsible for theft or damage to artwork.

In the event of property damage or loss during the rental period, the Renter is solely responsible for the damaged property.

 44 Gaukel, ArtsBuild Ontario, the Accelerator Centre and all of their tenants and affiliates are not responsible for works exhibited in the gallery. Artists and organizations who exhibit without insurance do so at their own risk.

Installation Support

Exhibitors are responsible for the hanging and the timely tear down of their exhibits.

ArtsBuild Ontario will create clear adhesive labels for artworks. Exhibitors must provide details including title, artist name, year, sale value, and a short artist statement if applicable. 

ArtsBuild Ontario will provide a title card / poster for the exhibition if details are provided by artists.

Limit of Liability

To the extent allowed by applicable law, in no event shall ArtsBuild Ontario (ABO) or any of its directors, officers, employees, advisors, agents or insurers be liable to the Renter, its directors, officers, employees, agents and other persons visiting the Renter at the Facility for:

A. any personal injury or death of or loss or damage to any property belonging to the Renter, its directors, officers, employees, agents and other persons visiting the Renter at the Facility or any other person in, on or about the Facility, unless resulting from a breach of the obligations of ABO or an act or omission by ABO or those for whom ABO is in law responsible.  

B. any act or omission (including theft, malfeasance or negligence) on the part of any agent, contractor or person from time to time employed by it to perform janitorial services, security services, supervision or any other work in or about the Premises or the Development, provided the Landlord exercised reasonable care in the hiring or retaining of such agent, contractor or person; 

C. any loss of profits, loss of use of data, interruption of business, or for indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages of any kind incurred by the Renter; 

D. any claim or other proceeding against the Renter by a third party; or 

E. any representation or warranty made to any third party by the Renter.
