We’ve Been Here
This past summer, students who worked with White Owl Native Ancestry Association created beautiful reflective art about their experiences. Over the course of two weeks in August, eight youth participated in an intensive photography, spoken word, and social justice mentorship program. Facilitated in partnership with @jayucanada and @wisahkotewinowak, youth were guided through a series of prompts that explored reconciliation, healing, identity exploration, intersectionality, dreams of the future and connections to the Land. The result: a month long exhibition entitled We’ve Been Here. The exhibition will feature 16 portraits and 8 poems created by each youth.
Here are the times you are welcome to attend this amazing culmination:
November 13th 1-5 pm
November 14th 1-5 pm
November 20th 1-5 pm
November 21st 1-5 pm
Proof of vaccination is necessary for entrance to the space. Admission is free to the public at 44 Gaukel in DT Kitchener.
